Description

The Supra oval Sharpening Steel SY52030R is a professional honing steel with a 30 cm (12 in) rod, used to maintain and realign the cutting edge of kitchen knives between sharpenings rather than to remove metal. It suits butcheries, professional kitchens and catering operations that hone knives daily; its oval cross-section meets more of the blade's edge on each pass than a round rod.

The rod has a chrome-plated finish and a microfine grain for light, frequent touch-ups. The handle is red, and in the Supra Colore HACCP colour system red identifies tools used for raw meat, so this steel can be kept with the knives assigned to the same task to reduce cross-contamination risk.
